Pole & Aerial Sports
I picked up pole dancing at the start of my PhD and have greatly enjoyed learning more ways to look good while on a stick of metal. From spinning in circles to floating halfway up a pole to hanging upside-down, I’ve definitely stumbled into one of the most fun sports I’ve ever done.
I’ve also recently started expanding out from pole dancing into other aerial sports such as hoop, which have been great fun to learn and experiment with.
I am now the vice-president of the Wolfson Pole and Aerial Sports Society.
Rubik’s Cubes
I solve a variety of Rubik’s cube-style puzzles, and have solved a standard 3x3 cube in 4.6 seconds. I can also solve larger cubes and things that don’t look like cubes such as pyraminx and the Rubik’s clock, and have competed at a handful of official speedcubing competitions before.

He estudiado español desde hace 10 años. Empecé con mi GCSE, pero no entendía la belleza de la lengua cúando hay que estudiarlo. Después, estudiando a mi propio, descubrí muchos razones porque el estudio de las lenguas es asombroso - la cultura, la gente, y lo más interesante para mi, gramática (no soy loco, ¡te lo juro!). A partir de ese momento, me encanta ver las películas y las series españoles, todos de los paises hispanohablantes y sus culturas y diferencias, y todo relacionado con Español.

I’ve studied Spanish since 10 years ago. I started with my GCSE, but I didn’t understand the beauty of the language while I had to learn it. Afterwards, studying by myself, I discovered many reasons why the study of languages is awesome - the culture, the people, and the most interesting for me, grammar (I’m not mad, I swear!). From this moment, I’ve loved Spanish films and TV series, all of the Spanish speaking countries and their cultures and differences, and everything related to Spanish.

Я изучаю русский язык с два года назад. Для меня, русский язык — очень интересно, различно, и трудно, ну мне нравица вызовы. Русский очень полезно; я использовал его каждый день после я учал кириллица. От хакерских форумов до электронные почты, это нужно, и я не понимаю как я жил без него.

I’ve been studying Russian for two years. For me, the Russian language is interesting, different, and hard, however I like a challenge. Russian is very useful; I’ve used it every day since I learned Cyrillic. From hacker forums to reading emails, it is needed, and I don’t understand how I lived without it.
Martial arts
With a second dan black belt in Taekwondo, a first dan black belt in Krav Maga, and over eight years of training, martial arts have had a great impact on my life, helping me develop in many areas. Having the opportunity to teach Taekwondo for three years has provided me invaluable skills, from teamwork and leadership to optimal ways to give constructive feedback.
